SaverWiz by RjH Software |
'SaverWiz' will take all of your favorite photos and combine them into a great Windows screensaver file that you can install right from the program itself. It also includes some great additional features that I think you'll like. |

SaverWiz by RjH Software How
would you like to show off your finest digital photos in your
collection right on your desktop!? First, move your computer into
your rec room (if it's not already there). Next, host a big party
for some of your friends. Finally, turn your computer on and
leave it running with a screen saver of your favorite photos you
created with SaverWiz! At less than a meg in downloaded size,
you'll be surprised what you'll end up with when you install this
package. Take a look: This program is currently running on my XP Pro and Windows 98. No problem what so ever. The site says Windows 95 and up! Web Site......... The web site for RJH software contains links to their different programs, both shareware and freeware. The roomy page for SaverWiz is text based with very little clipart. This easy loader also has a small window with screenshots of the program being displayed at random. Downloading........ You have a choice of two links to use for your download. One is web based and the other is FTP. Both are instant downloads and originate right from their server with no input of personal info necessary. Size
Downloaded: 922k for the program Installation........ SaverWiz installs as many other freeware products do with the usual intro, directory choice, program group, an install button and your done. Help Files........ The help for SaverWiz is literally built into the program. Though there is a basic help file that is accessible through the F1 key anytime in the program, each window for SaverWiz gives you full and detailed instructions on each process and what it performs. Later in this review you'll see exactly what I mean. The downloaded .zip contains a 'readme' file which outlines the program, gives install instructions, and also mentions that they do not support their freeware as far as help goes. Again, the instructions are really all that is needed. Interface & Features........ Due to the instructions being incorporated into the program itself, the interface is basically text based with standard fonts and thoughtful layouts with attractive color displays. Here's a pic of the initial window on starting the program:
The opening window gives you a rundown of SaverWiz and starts you off with initial instructions. The bottom buttons do the work and the links in blue send you for a peek at the other two operation windows as well as links to their site and e-mail. From here, you click 'Next'! Now the window gives you precise details on what you should do with your photos. As stated in the sample shot, you can rearrange your photos into the order that you want by dragging them. Mix and match, delete pics, and even add a caption to each one. The 'Thumbnail Options' button gives you a simple window to change the size of the samples as well as the background color behind them. Simple isn't it!? Here's the screenshot:
The next window allows you to make all of your settings for the screensaver. Again, the text gives you the step by step on completing this part of the program. First, pick a path and file name for the screensaver file which will be in the standard windows .scr file format. Next, pick an actual name for the topic of your creation. Next, chose the picture quality. The higher the percentage, the clearer the photos will be on your desktop and the larger the file size will be. The text presented to the user underneath this section says it all (again!). A nice addition to SaverWiz is the ability to give your screensaver a presentation effect. There are many of these included which I have exposed in the drop down box for you to see in my screenshot below:
The 'Transition' setting adjusts the speed for each photo change plus there are check boxes for showing your picture captions and allowing you to change your setting right from the Windows screensaver area. After making your adjustments, just click 'Make'. It takes a bit of time for each photo to be adjusted for the screensaver depending on the speed of the computer system, but the small wait is worth it! After the process is complete, SaverWiz gives you a window which lets you test your saver or install it directly into windows. This nice addition makes getting your creation up on your screen easy. Here's a pic:
Does it Work?......... Yes, it works very well. The timing of each photo is precise, the photos are presented in the entire screen area and setting your picture quality at 100% will give you a very nice presentation. I would have liked to be able to adjust the fonts of the captions however, in a package this size, I suppose you can't have everything. Uninstall..... Enjoy!! Buzzy J |
