This spellchecker addon for Microsoft's Internet Explorer gives you the ability to spell check e-mails, text boxes, web chat areas, and just about any text typed into web based document sites.

ieSpell by Sidney Chon

Thanks goodness for spell checkers! There are quite a few sites that I like to visit where typing in text is necessary on a web based page. For instance, my Yahoo e-mail account is usually pretty busy with traffic both inbound, and outbound. IeSpell comes in handy there! A right click bring up the menu, click the “check spelling” item, and there you go!! It works in other areas too! Now for the details:

Platform......

Seems to work on any version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer in Windows 95, 98, Me, XP, NT, and 2000!

Web Site..........

Basically text based and not a ton of pictures! Easy to read using a serif font, the page features an intro, the latest news, and links along the left side of the screen for the other areas pertaining to the program such as download and screenshots.

Downloading........

Size Downloaded: 2.24 megs

Size Installed: 5.60 megs.

Installation..........

The download is a self install .exe file so just find out where it went on your hard drive and click it. The installation is very fast with a E.U.L.A. Aggrement, a small installation window, then a nice reminder on where you'll be able to access ieSpell in Windows. Here's a pic of that:

Help Files..........

Well, other than the above screen, there isn't much help to write home about. If you go to their web site, they mention that they have a Yahoo group dedicated to this program where you probably would get a ton of help, but I didn't bother to check it out. Considering that this addon is basically a help type program and is rather easy to use, I think a help file would be useless anyway. The author mentions a “manual” that has been put on his to do list. There is also a newsletter that you can apply for from the site which should give you additional info right to your mail box.

Interface ...........

The interface of this program is like just about every other spell checker that I've seen. Here's a sample pic of it:

Now that you've seen the interface screen by itself, here's a pic of the program in action using it on a famous actresses web site to write a short letter to her. Again, it's web based so this pic should give you an idea as to how it will look on your computer. As far as the actress goes, I'm not mentioning any names!! The pic has been sized to fit:

Hopefully, that gives you an idea on how it looks on a famous persons web site (Nope!! I'm not telling!!). If you use web based e-mail, here's a pic with that in mind. Yahoo doesn't incorporate spell checker on their site so a program like this will come in handy!! Here it is:

Features ...........

Geeze, features!!!?? It's a spell checker for goodness sake!! OK, there's a few worth mentioning! The program installs a work button on IE which makes access rather easy. Personally, I like to use the right click menu where you'll find what you need. The options settings give you a basic ability on some changes to the program too. Here's a couple of pics showing the two options screens:

Another nice feature worth mentioning is that this addon for IE also works in IE based browsers like Crazy Browser!! I'm not sure about others but I use Crazy regularly! That was nice to see, believe me!

Problems.......

Nope!! None to metion.

In Closing ..........

This is a nice little program for those of use who are absolutely useless at spelling. I will be keeping this on my hard drive on every new install! Just to add, the author asks for dontations on his site and if you can afford it, do it. If not, don't worry about it. Enjoy it!!

Enjoy
